Users cannot see sprints created by other users

Limor Hader February 26, 2024

We are 2 users, both are admins. There is a project called XAN. It has one board called XANBO. We are both admin users on this project.

When I create sprints (non-active) in the backlog section of XANBO, he cannot see them in his view. When he creates sprints on the board, I don't see them on my view.

Other projects works properly - we can both see each other's created sprints.

What could be the problem with project XAN (or its board)?

Thanks!

Hello @Limor Hader

Double check the URLs you are each using to access the board. A numeric ID is included in the URL. Ensure that you are using the same URL with the same numeric board ID.

Also make sure that you are refreshing the screen after the sprint has been added.

Hi Trudy,

Thing is that without checking the URLs it works fine with other projects. Only this one project has this strange issue. Also when I created a new issue and wanted to assign it to a sprint through the Sprint selector in the issue, the sprint that my colleague created didn't appear on the list when I had the "Only show sprints in this project" checked. When I unchecked that option, I could find that sprint he created, not associated with any project.

I gave up and just created a new project and moved all the issues there, I would still like to understand why this issue would occur.

Thanks!

Did you double check the URLs you were each using to access the board and confirm they were identical URLs?

ah! my colleague does have a different ID in the URL. actually his ID is different from the entire team (we all have 107 while he has 108). How would something like that happen? I'll give you background - he originally created this project, but did something wrong that I had to fix. I just asked him and he didn't save the URL in his favorites after he created the project, but he keeps opening it from going to the project list on JIRA, so why did he have a wrong ID? Clearing cache didn't help.

More than one board exists for the project. The boards may have the same name, because Jira doesn't require boards to have unique names, but each board that gets created gets a unique numeric ID.

A sprint will appear in the board in which it was created, always. It will also appear in any board where there is an issue in that board that is added to that sprint.

Since you are actually viewing different boards, when you create your sprints they are visible only in your own boards.

You should delete the board with ID=108 unless you can identify some reason for it to be kept. It is possible that there may be sprints that were created in that board that may be "lost" if the board is deleted, so you may just want to rename it instead, indicating in the name that the board should no longer be used.
