Hi, I am using Jira across various business functions in my company. I have been going back and forth on the HR module. It seems sensible to set up candidate as issue types, the board looks nice with candidates shown in the columns. And I appreciate the ability to be able to track candidate across the stages of the hiring process with the workflow. But I have struggled with how to assign tasks to my team in this arrangement. How do I assign my colleague to conduct an interview with a candidate who's in the "applications" status, and needs to move to "pending interview"? All I can do is write a comment in the issue, and then wait. There is no way to assign a deadline and see if my colleague is late a day or two setting this up, nor when the item was done, aside from commenting, which is not reportable and loses a lot of the benefit of Jira. I thought about creating a 2nd project and assigning the task there, and linking to the candidate, but that seems like a ton of overhead. Alternatively I'm wondering if just using a task and creating a custom field for the Candidate wouldn't give us the best visibility into how we are tracking with moving the candidate along. In this scenario, I'd just create a task & subtasks for the whole on boarding process. I don't have the nice visibility of candidates on the board, but at least I can track the tasks associated with their onboarding/recruting with accountability.
Any insights on how to work through this would be greatly appreciated!
