Using Jira for multiple projects

Maksym Kyreiev November 13, 2022

Hey!
I have 4 systems and 1 feature team working on them. We work according to the Scrum methodology, in two-week sprints. Each sprint always contains several tasks regarding each of the 4 systems.
I would like to ask if we are running projects in Jira in the right way.

1. I created 4 separate projects, for each of the systems A, B, C, D; We can say that these projects are the backlog of each system;

2. Then, I created the 5th separate project, in which the team and I work on the sprint tasks. This mrans, that from each of the 4 projects in Jira, I moved Tasks to the 5th - where we execute and close the tasks.

In your opinion, is this approach correct?

Short answer is "no" - a working process does not include moving issues to other projects.

If you're working Scrum, then your team will have a scrum board, in which they are running the sprints.  A board is a selection of issues, it's not a part of a project, so all you need to do is set up your board so that it pulls in all the issues from all four projects.

Hi,

Welcome to the community.

It's seems that one project can be enough for you. I would go for one project and create component for each system to distinguish task.

Then create one scrum board that will look for issue from this project.
