Hello,
I been searching allot but cant find any addon or example for what i'm looking for so i thought i ask you for advice and see if anyone has done this using Jira.
The company i work for right now has like over 110 applications/platforms/programs that they are using in the company. Its a bit out of control to say the least.
They dont need development but rather a system where they can register these "assets" and keep track of them like the product name, contant person(s), productowner, license info (start/end date) and so on.
I have used Jira before for development and i know its very flexible and i can more or less do the workflow and my own cusimized views and fields and all that but i thoguht maybe there is a ready module i can use/buy to simplify the work.
Any thoughts?
Hi @vampyren ,
The approach to use JIRA for your use case involves customization with additional fields and capturing details with those info. These fields can be used for reporting as well. Few select list fields that you would need can be
Applications
License Type
License Start Date
License End Date
Application owner ( can be a user picker field)
Application owner email address ( Single Line text)
You can also consider using Components in JIRA as Applications. These components will have component leads. With everything said, please be mindful that JIRA is not a license management tool, but teams can live with JIRA if the requirement is not more complex.
If you can capture the license related info, you can use confluence as well to document the applications and their info. Team Calendars in confluence can send you notifications on license expiry(provided the calendar is imported with these event info as one time activity)
Few OOB License management tools for your reference: https://www.trustradius.com/license-management
Thanks @Niranjan , i'm very familiar with Jira/Confluence and what you are saying i can do for sure. I was more curious if there are addons tailored for such purpose. Maybe there isnt. Jira is very flexible so it can be used for many things and as you say for simple tracking it might work well. I dont think our need is to complex at this time.
Thanks for the link too. I will check them too.
Cheers.
