Using tds:// links in Jira Description Field not working, but they work in the Issue History

I want a link to Quality Center, a different application to work in my description field. It looks like 'tds://domain-name.com/etc'. When I used the <a>nchor tag for HTML maybe I did it wrong, that didn't work. When I did the [regular|linkmaker.com] it also did not work.

However, when viewing the issue history the link works! What can I do? Thank you
