Using the Native CLI

Hello there, We have recently started working with a new management software. Among other things, it enables us to create scripts that automate processes.
Now I am faced with the following problem: After dialing into the Jira console with Putty, I came across the commands in /usr/sbin, which I can use.
Unfortunately, I can't find any syntax and file locations on the Internet, so I'm trying around a bit.
Let's say I want to add a user but I can't find the /home dir for the user, nor do I know a UID or the group. Does anyone know how I can list the users or groups or how I can get the corresponding ID's?
