Want to affiliate custom issue type as child of initiative

I made a custom issue type and I would like to associate it as a child of an initiative. When I select parent link I only have access to selecting epics. Is it possible to make this link? I also want to be able to see child issues from an initiative view.

The new issue type that you would like to assign as a child must have been created as SUB-TASK.

Please visit the Issue Types in the Admin session and make sure the new type is created as a sub-task.
