Hi All,

Within the project in Jira we have Epics-> User Stories -> Subtasks. User Story Points can be included at the User Story and/or Subtask level. We would like a field within the User Story and Epics that sum-up the story points from the child tasks. Please let me know how this can be achieved

Hello Prasad,

The ability to sum-up story points from sub-tasks to Stories and from Stories to Epics is something that cannot be achieved at this moment using only JIRA, however, a high number of users have requested this feature, so our developers are considering to implement it in the future.

Also, as a big number of users have requested this possibility, some of them have brought up some options and workarounds to achieve this functionality using plugins or applying different use cases.

Please, check both feature requests below to see some of our customer experiences and how they have managed to work around this lack:

- Sum estimates from sub-tasks in user stories

- Sum story points or hour estimates for any epic links

Personally, I have used the add-on Agile Remaining Estimate Counter which has worked just fine for me.

Additionally, feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.
