What are the steps are needed in oder to use a Identity Provider (OKTA) having to merge 2 companies

We have an Identity Provider (IP) already on one company and products under another company.  We we told that we would need the merge the two prior to using IP.   With that said it looks like projects are in the second company and just IP under security in the other one.  Anyone been down this path before.  If so, please advise.
