What is the best way to export whole projects from one jira to the other as an archive?

We are taking over a project from another company and I would like to have the project related to the products we are taking over imported into our Jira to archive, so we have all of the issues for reference if needed.

I have been doing exports into CSV and importing--but it's not ideal.  I keep running into issues such as:

* Errors importing the issues (I'm only successfully able to import a fraction of the total count)

* Network timeout/errors on exporting so I have to piece-meal with issue filters

We have a fresh JIRA install so what's the best way that I can archive these other projects without having to re-create workflows so everything maps accordingly without issues/errors?

Hi Ruthanne,

One way you could do it would be the following:

1. Make an XML backup
2. Backup the JIRA_HOME/plugins folder
3. Backup the JIRA_HOME/data folder
4. Perform an import according to Restoring Data
