What is the point of Filter Subscriptions?

I can find how-to videos everywhere but why would I use them in the first place? What do they do and what audience should find them valuable?

Elaine,

They send an email based on the filter results at any time you set it to.  I find this useful for many levels of management, as some might prefer email over a Jira Dashboard.
