What is the relationship between Confluence labels and Jira labels?

We have started to use Confluence labels for organizing and searching our pages.

• A co-worker using Jira asked me about keywords and labels in Jira.

From what I can tell, Jira keywords are more strictly regulated than Jira labels, but I could not understand how or if there is any relationship between Jira labels and Confluence labels.

1. Are they one or separate namespaces?
2. Are there any plans to unify the namespaces given that these are both Atlassian products?
3. What are the recommendations related to Jira labels versus Jira keywords?
