Nice answer, just not the answer I needed.

I need to know can I jump from 6.4.9 to 9.4 or do I need to upgrade in intermediary steps?

You need to do it in steps, with some of them being mandatory. Skipping certain steps might later on corrupt bits of data which will break newer functions, etc.

It's recommended to do it step by step, without rushing the process. The easiest way is to work with an official Atlassian partner.
