What java version should be used with Jira 4.4.4?

Bartek Zukowski February 9, 2012

Hello,

Why does Jira 4.4.4 uses its own Java version that is bundled with it (Java SE 6 Update 26)? This version is older than currently available and recommended (Java SE 6 Update 30).

Can we safely change JAVA_HOME variable in permgen.sh so that we'll use the newest version?

Regards,

Bartek Zukowski

It's fine to use the latest one, and I'd generally recommend using the latest.

The test system here is running r30 flawlessly.

(Not sure about Vishnu's suggestion of r20, when r26 is the bundled version and r30 is the latest and includes a handful of security patches. I assume a miskey ;-) )

jdk1.6.0_20 is fine. We can set JAVA_HOME as well.
