When Assignee is selected, Move the issue to In progress from Open

Hello Everyone,

Can you help me to change the status automatically from Open to In progress when the assignee field is selected? The automation option is not possible since we are using the old server version. 

need a script runner program or is there any other way for this task? Thanks.

For this automation you need some Jira addon for eg. ScriptRunner and create Post Function.

For your case (in ScriptRunner) you can use Fast-track Transition an Issue
