When creating a JIRA issue through Confluence default field values are not set

When doing Insert / Jira Issue / Create New Issue from Confluence the default values for the selected project and issue type are not set in JIRA. It seems that the defaults will only get set if the field in question is on the input form.

Any way to work around this or how can I add the field to the Confluence Create New Issue form?

You need to make a modification to the jira-connector plugin.

Do you have a bitbucket account? I have some older code that did some of this that might be of use
