When creating new stories, specific stories will not show on backlog when assigned a sprint, why?

I've seen this issue with myself and other POs in the past, but I can't remember how we fixed it. A story is created and then even when assigned to our team and assigned a sprint it won't show in the backlog.

My suspicion is that it is a status issue set up by the Jira team, where certain status's won't show on the backlog. I work at a larger company so I don't have permissions to check this.

Any idea why a story wouldn't show up in our sprint or backlog at all? How can I fix it so that it would show in the backlog?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

There may be a few reasons. You should at least have the board admin permissions to start troubleshooting it. You can check if the board filter excludes these stories due to the specific parameters that would fall out of the filter. A particular status that hasn't been mapped to your board columns, etc. Try to gather more details and report it internally to your board admin. Identifying the differences between stories you can see on the board and those you can't is a starting point to drive the changes you need to get it working as expected. Please share more details as you learn them so we can better assist you.
