When moving and Epic issueType to new issueType. Can i retain the linked issues?

Hello,

I have some Epics that need moved to a different issues type for some restructuring. These Epics currently have issues in the "Issues in Epic" link. When i move this to a new issues type how can i retain the linked issues under a different issue link? for instance a "relates to" link type?

Hi Wade,

No because it would not longer be linked an Epic. 

You would be better off creating another Epic and moving the issues under that one first before changing the issue type away from Epic.

Hi John, Thanks for your reply.  I suppose I will have to change the link type manually. I will need the links to still show but not be of a link type eipc.

Yes, you can do that! And you should be able to automate that using Automation for Jira.
