Out of curiousity...
In Jira, when changing the status of a card to solved it will still appear on the backlog but with the Jira number "striked through". How long does it take for it to disappear from the backlog altogether? Or does this only happen when it belongs to a sprint that is completed? Thanks in advance!
In the Kanban boards you can go to the settings and see what you have, in most cases its 14 days BUT there is also often a sub filter that shows only issues that is not yet released. So that is also one way to remove the issues from your backlog. Do a weekly release of all issues then they are gone from your board.
Scrum boards are different as they typically show only the sprint you are working on.
Hi Krister! Thanks for your response to my question. I cannot seem to locate "General and filter", might this have to do with rights or am I looking in the wrong place?

Depending on whether or not your system is server or cloud you should see
For Server: Go to board > On top right find drop down menu called Board > Choose Configure
For Cloud: Go to board > On top right find "..." sign > Choose Board Settings
