Where is the export button/link that items of a project can be exported?

aliang March 10, 2020

I have admin permission that I can see "IMPORT AND EXPORT" features in JIRA Settings -> System. But in EXPORT section, it is "Backup Manager", I don't want to backup entire JIRA database for our company, I only want to export all items of a project, add more items and import back in to achieve high efficiency in "batch process".

But I failed to locate "EXPORT" button/link from JIRA. Where is it?

I did export items from a project to CSV file 1.5 months back. That time I had permission to access all the project. Now, I still have JIRA admin permission, but limited to one project. I don't know if that makes a difference (I don't really think so, but like to present any possibilities here).

Thanks a lot in advance

You can export to Or excel all issue in a project as follows:

  1. click on magnifying glass
  2. click on advanced search
  3. in the JQL search bar enter “project = abc” where abc is you project key
  4. click on the export button

Thank you very much Jack for the answer. I did find Export button/link from your answer.

Now, I'd like to confirm my method. The reason I'd like to export and import is that I have a "huge" number of JIRA issues that I have to open. Editing at CSV and import to JIRA should be much faster than opening one by one from JIRA UI. That's my imagination. However, I am not sure completely if this method is doable:

1. Will I be asked the project name that the issues to be imported? I don't want to screw up other JIRA projects

2. When filling in CSV file, some of the fields would be left empty, for example ISSUE ID, w/o those, will the import be impacted?

Thanks a lot in advance!
