Where to select Next Gen project type when importing project from CSV?

Zofia Safteruk-Przybysz April 8, 2020

Objective: I want to be able to import CSV file as a Next Gen project in Jira.

I did follow the information provided here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/importing-data-from-csv-861253680.html#ImportingdatafromCSV-format

Problem: Project is imported as a Classic Jira project - not Next Gen. I did not see anywhere an option to chose Nex Gen type during the import.

I found a screenshot in this bug report that suggests I should have an option to chose project type, but I did not have it in my import wizard. I could not find any other documentation on the matter.

I can see in my settings > System > External system Import that I have JIRA import wizard version 1001.0.0-SNAPSHOT

I would like to understand why I cannot find an option to chose import into Next Gen project and how to fix it?

I'll be thankful for any advice you can provide.

Edit: Here is what I see in step one and two of the Import process.

Hi @Zofia Safteruk-Przybysz

You can choose to import into an existing Next-Gen project - that's the drop-down you're seeing on the second screenshot. You can select the project in here.

This doesn't appear to work when you set the project in the CSV though - or try to create a new project via the CSV - as the project type is "software" - there is no "next-gen software"

There are a few anomalies in uploading to Next-Gen projects at the moment. An alternative is to upload to a classic project first then bulk move the issues into Next-Gen. See this page for migrating between Classic and Next-Gen projects.

Thank you, Stephen. That's what I will try to do as a workaround - upload as classic and migrate to next-gen.
