which are the differences between all issue type? for all issue type I mean:

  • Configuration,
  • Defect,
  • Doc review,
  • Story,
  • Support.

I looked for the answer in Jira documentation but I never found the right answer.
Thank you,

Hi Edoardo

I'm not sure what you're asking, because issue types are completely configurable. As an example, our Jira instance doesn't have Configuration or Support, your Defect is probably called Bug in our instance etc. Your Story will have a completely different workflow to ours, because we've changed ours. Some teams (projects) only use Story and sub-task.

So when you ask about differences, what do you mean?

Hi!

thank you so much. I think I have to submit the question to my Jira Instance owner.

I thought that there was some "general rules" about issue type.

Also issues statuses are completely configurable?

Thank you again,

EDO

The only issue type that I would not reconfigure is "Epic", if you have Jira Software.  The rest of them are, as Warren says, totally configurable.  If your users decide they want to call an issue type "Penguin", then they can.  (I use that because I have worked in a place where it made sense!)

You're right with status as well - they're totally up to you how you use them.
