It uses the date upon which the issue was resolved - when the resolution field changed from <empty> to <not empty>

The gadget is not configurable, but you should look to your workflow to decide when an issue gets resolved (the obvious place is "on a transition from an open status to an ended one, such as your "finalized")

Ok, but can you send a Screen to see where and how you mark that an specific status of the flow implies that it is resolved?

No, there is no "mark specific status to imply it is resolved".

The Resolution field tells Jira whether an issue is resolved or not.

You need to look at the workflow, and probably edit it.

First, list out all the status, and group them into "finished with this issue" (end status) and "still needs attention" (needs work).  It is normal to see that the end-status are all classified green (and there may only be one end status), and the needs-work column is all blues and greys.

Second, look at each transition that goes from a needs-work status to an end-status.  Each of these transitions should have either

  • A post-function that updates the resolution to a value
  • A transition screen, one which includes the resolution field (note, do NOT put resolution on any other screens, it should only go on screens that are for resolving issues)

Do not do both - if you do, the post-function will overwrite what the people enter, which can be very annoying for them.

Third, look at each transition that goes from an end-status to a needs-work status.  These should have a post-function for "clear the resolution"
