Why I can't find the field Description in the Custom Field screen?

I'm using the Description filed in all of my screens but for some reason I can't find it in the Custom Field screen. I can find it in the Field configuration screen when I'm entering per issue type. Any idea why?
The reason from the beginning that I looked for it was cause I wanted to edit the template I have in the Description for Bugs only and I couldn't find the place it was edited (the Admin before me did it). Any idea where it is configured?
Thanks, Sari

Hello Sari,

The "Description" attribute is a built-in feature in Jira Core and is not considered a custom field. As a result, it won't appear in the Custom Field section. I'm not entirely clear on your objective, but it seems like you may be attempting to modify the issue screen or layout.

To achieve this, navigate to your Project Settings > Summary. From there, you can edit the Issue Screen assigned to the "Bug" issue type in your project or adjust the Issue Layout for Bugs in Project Settings.

Feel free to provide more details about your request, and I'll be happy to offer more specific guidance.

@kashsingh Thanks for your assistance. I thought I will find it like Sprint (Jira locked field). But I will explain what I'm trying to do: I have some configuration that when I create a Bug ticket the description field comes with a template. I want to edit it but I can't find where.image.png

@kashsingh I found the answer, Apparently we have addon called Issue Templates Agent and we configured there the bug template.

Hello Sari,

I hope this message finds you well.

1. Description is not a custom field - it is default from Jira, this is why you can't find it there.

2, I think we are talking here about a automation or a plugin.

I know 2 workaround in order to make a template for the description field.

- have another custom field that is copied after the creation to description

- or to have a plugin, for example scriprunner, with the behaviour to put a default text(template) to the description fields.

Please try to find in the history of the issue after it was created, if it was done any kind of automation (EX. Description was updated .....etc)

If you have scriptrunner check behaviour, i have something similiar.

Best regards,

David.
