Why am I being billed when I'm using a free plan?

They're threatening to cancel my account if I don't add my payment details, but I'm not going to??? I selected free plans for a reason. I won't pay 68.00 USD for a school project, are they crazy? And I'm using the free plan for literally everything, I checked. My team only has 4 users, so that's nowhere near the limit. Is this place a scam?

My account wasn't even created in 2024, but this year, though I don't know if that's relevant...?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

By any chance, did you happen to start Jira Premium Trial? I'm guessing so because the price is $17 per user per month, which makes it $68 for 4 users.

Can you check if you have the Plans option on the top menu or the left side bar (for new navigation)? If so, you're on a premium (trial) plan.

I don't have it; and it offers the option of a free trial.

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

When you go to the billing page for your subscription for Jira how many users does it indicate you have? Can you provide a screen image, obscuring confidential information such as the URL for your site.

Do you have any third party apps installed on your site? While your Jira subscription might be free for 10 users or less that does not mean that third party apps will also be free?

As you can see, it's all free. No third party apps.

I agree with @Karan Sachdev - contacting the Atlassian Billing team is the best way to get a conclusive answer.
