Why are additional attachments showing when responding via email?

Question regarding current Jira project issues: when I tag a user in the Comments and it sends them an email notification, if they respond in the email to the notification, it will appear in the Comments section of the issue correctly, but I noticed that when they respond via email, the issue is also now showing numerous image attachments that were not there before the email response came through. It seems like responding to the comment via email is somehow making the Jira response capture any images or icons that appeared in the user's email and add them as attachments. Does anyone know if this can be configured to only show the typed response in the email and not capture all images as separate attachments?

You are may be running into a well-known issue, that is captured in JSDCLOUD-5878.

The good news there is that a fix appears to be currently in development and is expected to be released somewhere during Q4 2021.

I recommend you to watch that ticket for further updates.
