Why are boards based on saved searches only in Jira Software

I created a Business project because I like the List feature, amongst others. But as best I can tell, there is no way to make a Board based on Saved Search like one can with a Software project.
1) Is there a work around?
2) Why is this feature not universal?

Hello @Aron Kuch

There is no native way to create the total Business project view (Summary, List, Board, Timeline, Calendar, etc.) based on a saved filter. That entire UX is tied specifically to an entire Business project.

The features you find in that UX are not "universal" because Business projects and Software projects are intended for different use cases and so provide different out-of-the-box features.

But you could certainly contact Atlassian about getting a change request to add the List feature as an option for Software projects, or asking for a way to get the Business project UX for a saved filter.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

There is a strong argument that Atlassian are trying to monetize their products as much as possible.  If Jira Work Manangement provided the same flexibility that Jira Software requires (like the power to use saved searches to drive a board), then there would be no need for anyone to buy Jira Software.  But that's a very cynical and assumptive view, and it's not what I've ever heard from Atlassian's Jira product owners, they've all told me what Trudi said.

The real answer is, as @trudi says, the products are intended for different purposes.
