Why are my TO DO issues divided between my board and backlog?

james.bloemendal October 18, 2022

Any help would be appreciated!

Context:

- Team Managed

- Scrum

I usually use company managed and Kanban, unfortunately someone else set this up and now issues I'm changing to status To Do are not all appearing on our board.

Hello @james.bloemendal

Welcome to the community.

The screen you've shown us is not a Scrum board, as it is missing the Active Sprints option in the navigation pane on the left. Rather, it is a Kanban board.

In Company Managed projects that use a Kanban board with a Backlog screen, the issues in the Backlog are based on the Status of the issue. A Status is mapped to the "Backlog" column, while all other Statuses are mapped to "board" columns.

In Team Managed projects this is not the case. There is no mapping of a specific Status to the Backlog. Because of that, the all statuses for the issues are available in both the Backlog list and in columns for the Board. You have to move an issue from the Backlog list to the Board to put it on the board. and that does not change its Status.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill that's really helpful.

Go to configure board -> column and statuses and check if a status is located in the left column that is for unmapped statuses. If there is then drag it to a column and issues connected to that status should show up again.
