Why burndown chart graph (RED Line) doesn’t show the hours logged

Dnyaneshwar_Borase February 28, 2018

I see an issue with Burndown chart.

When I log-work hours against a sub-task that belongs to a story with an Original estimate/h, the burndown chart graph (RED Line) doesn’t show the hours logged.

Followed Steps:

  • Create a story with Original estimate/h
  • Start sprint
  • Then, add subtasks without original estimate
  • Log-work against  sub-tasks
  • Check burndown chart Graph to see if it shows the hours logged
  • I don’t see the hours logged in the graph.

Please share the reason why RED Line doesn’t show the hours logged?

There are two things here

  • You only burn down on story completion, as it's the stories you committed to do in the sprint
  • Time logs for the sub-task belong to the sub-task, not the story.  You need to log against the story if you want to burn down on time logs
