Why can't I edit workflows on the fly?

Oleg P_ January 9, 2024

The whole process of editing or adding a new workflow to project is UNuser friendly.

I am just trying to add a Resolve transition screen when issues are moved to Done.

1. I am getting: "You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow"
2. I cannot modify an active workflow.

Instead of letting me add a screen in 5 seconds, I must create a copy of the whole Workflow, then make all of the project re-assignments. The more I dig in - the more stuff needs to happen in order to accomplish my goal.

Jira keeps me busy modifying configuration more than I could be doing actual work.
Completely awful experience (and yes - we do pay money for it).

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I agree, it's a flaw in the workflow editor that has been there for years.  Fixing it keeps getting pushed down the list of things that Atlassian are going to do.  It has a workaround and only affects a few people (admins), so it is not a high priority for Atlassian.
