Why can't we see all sprints in our Roadmap view?

Sebastian Steer November 14, 2022

Hi,

we have a problem with one of our projects. (A NON-IT-guy managed it, so it is definitely possible that we have a lousy configuration here. )

We are using Jira Cloud with a company-managed project. (This project was created as Team-managed and then moved to a company-managed project.

Here is a screenshot:

Screenshot 2022-11-14 at 09.22.03.png

As you can see there are sprints visible till July and then we see only this blue line with all sprint names in a bulk. I can move Stories inside the epics to the visible sprints (April-June) and there are also sprints in October where I can drag and drop my stories. We have versions/releases in this project.

What did I check?

  • all sprints have a start and an end date
  • I created a completely new sprint last week...the same issue
  • I did edit the version/release dates to a future date.
  • I moved a Story to a sprint (for example Jan 23) inside the Backlog. I opened the roadmap again. The story was in the sprint. The sprint was still invisible. I could drag and drop the story to another (visible) sprint, but after that, I can not move it back to the "Jan 23" sprint.

What can I do to fix this? Is this a bug?

Our problem was date one of our completed sprints had an end date in the future.

How did I solve this problem:

  1. Enabled parallel sprints in Jira (Settings --> Products --> "Parallel sprints for company-managed projects"
  2. Go to sprint reports and reopen the problematic sprint
  3. Then open backlog and edit the dates of this sprint
  4. Go to sprints and choose the reopened sprint
  5. Complete the sprint again
  6. Disable the parallel sprint functionality
  7. That's it :)

Hi @Sebastian Steer

A project roadmap is a result of a board, so I would recomend to check filters if they are excluding future sprints.

Do you see all sprints in your backlog, in the top of the backlog?

Is there any filter applied (top of the backlog?)

The view settings bottons mentions to show all complete epics or hide them all?

I tested from my project, future sprints are shown, no bug detected.

Waiting for your feedback to help you

Hi Patricia,

I checked all Quick Filters --> they are not excluding sprints (I disabled all of them)

I can see all sprints in the backlog.

Do the sprints have dates as this screen shot bellow?

Its all right!

If you move the view to monthly view instead of quarter, how its looks like?

Same issue.

The blue line ends NOV '24. This line includes all other sprints:

Here we can see that there was a sprint TP4 22 07 that ends 2025/07/31 maybe this is my problem? How can I change the end date of an already closed sprint?

Sebastian Steer November 15, 2022

It is working right now. See my answer for further details!

Yes, this is the problem.
They are showing as paralalel sprints, and the blue indicates a active one.

You will need to reopen the sprint, edit the end date and close that again.

You can find and reopen the sprint from Sprint Report
