Why do I see two statuses in my backlog when I've only designated one?

Hi,

I've selected only Status: "New Request" to be associated with the Backlog yet "Ready to Start" appears above it.

How can I remove this to just show "Backlog" IE only Status: "Ready to Start" ?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

By design, it shows the name of the first column of your Kanban board. I don't believe you can change that. Have a look at https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/use-your-kanban-backlog/
