Why does Jira show that my time logged is over the original estimate?

Kevin September 23, 2021

The original estimate is 3h 48m. So why does Jira show "37m over the original estimate" in case of the yellow/orange bar?

This 37m is equal to one of my logs actually.

@Kevin It seems time is getting tracked from all subtasks to this parent tasks.

The issue you are facing happens when instead of giving original estimates to issue first, we directly log work to that ticket.

In other words, there is/are some subtasks where original estimate is not present but worklogs are there.

Hi @Suvarna Gaikwad

Thanks for the tip but actually, the strange thing is, there is no subtask associated this this issue. So I'm not sure why this could be happening.

What's also really weird is that if I delete that 37 minutes long worklog, suddenly the rest of it becomes orange and it still says 37 minutes.

@Kevin in that case is it possible to get screenshot of worklogs for this issue?

Hey @Suvarna Gaikwad

Sorry for my belated response. Let me show you what it looks like now:

Interestingly in the worklog it appears correctly:
