Why does my custom field: Checkboxes work with JQL but not in Basic?

Scott Soltero December 1, 2020

I have a custom field setup using checkboxes.

When I add this field to my basic query, it defaults to "All" and displays a search bar below. The search bar cannot see any of the items that are included in that field.

But when I create a JQL filter, I can add that field to my filter and it works just fine.

After creating a valid JQL filter with that field, when I change back to Basic view, the items in the field have a red exclamation point next to them and when I mouse over, it says that the field is not valid for the current project or issue type, which is false.

So my question:

Why does my custom field: "Checkboxes" work with JQL filters but not in Basic filters?

Hi @Scott Soltero

There appear to be several open defects for Basic Search related to shared type information for NextGen and Classic projects. If that is your situation, please review and you may monitor for fixes: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-74452

If that isn't a match to what you see, here are the other related ones:

If none match, consider submitting a ticket to Atlassian Support:

Best regards,

Bill
