Why does the Due Date require the Developer Group to be seen?

I was attempting to findout why the Due Date Built-In Field did not show on my Create Issue Screen. The account I was logged in as was a member of the JIRA User group. When the screen displayed the field wasn't available. However, I happen to add the account to the Developer group and the field was available during the Create Issue Screen. Is there a list of these limitations for all the built-in fields or will I have to find them via trail and error.

The ability to edit the due date is controlled by the permissions - the user must have "schedule" permission to be able to set it. I suspect your normal users don't have "schedule" and your developers do.

The list of fields restricted this way is mercifully short (although there's a very popular request to be able to do it on any field).

  • Field: permission
  • Due date: schedule
  • Reporter: change reporter
  • Assignee: Assign
  • Fix version: Resolve
  • Work logs: Work on issue

I have a nagging doubt that there's oen I've missed, but I'm not sure.
