Why doesn't my required field transition validator work for Wiki Style Renderer text boxes?

We've added a few wiki style renderer textbox custom fields to our tickets. In our workflow on one of the transitions I've added 'Field Required Validators' for the text box fields. I'm able to perform the transition even when the textbox is completely empty.

On this same transition I have 'Required Field Validators' setup for 'default text renderer' textbox fields and those all work as expected. I can't do the transition if those textbox fields are empty. It's only the wiki style renderer fields that seem to have this problem. Has anyone else run into this?
