Why is basic authentication Jira REST API not working?

I don't quite understand, why I can't authenticate. I'm using my admin username and the API token, but my authentication gets denied. How do I get past the captcha? If thats the issue

Hi @kardon 

If the tagging of this question is correct, you're using the server version of Jira. In which case, I'm sure I've seen answers elsewhere that you shouldn't be using the API token, that it's only for the cloud version.

Can you try to log using the browser. You can only pass the captcha using the UI.
