Why is so hard to find total ticket points?

I am a new user to Jira and can't believe how none of the boards (Backlog, Active Sprint, even Search) provide a total count for tickets viewed.  The number of issues isn't nearly as important as the total points as that is what we plan off of.  Am I missing something? 

I need an easy way to view specific information (if I filter by a component, ticket type, etc) and see a total of ticket points.  I can add it up in my head or export it to Excel, but it seems that having this would be super obvious.

Jira shows you the total number of story points for a sprint. You can see the screenshot below:
