Why is the issues import taking hours a single record?

CSV file, 20 fields, no links, is taking hours.

I've had this occur when my csv was created out of a complex Excel file.  I would use formulas that would span thousands of rows and although they are empty in Excel, they are saved as thousands of rows of empty records that Jira will process.  Take a look at your csv in a text editor and see if it has several lines that look something like this.

,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,

 This will kill your imports every time (I've been bit by it more times than I care to admit).
