My team still needs the fully fledge features of a classic agile jira project. However, the new integrated & automated Roadmap feature in the Next-Gen project is the killer req that honestly, we've been waiting for for several years. However, it seems it's only available in the Next-Gen projects which are bit too simple for us to migrate over to. Thus, will the roadmap feature ever make it to classic JIRA projects?
Hello Mikko,
I hope you are having a nice day.
Unfortunately, at the moment it only pertains to Next-Gen projects and Classic projects don't have this roadmap feature yet.
I can see that Atlassian already has a feature request to implement it in the future and you can check it here JSWCLOUD-17214 .
To be really honest, I'm not sure if they consider implementing it or not, but I strongly recommend voting for the issue and keep watching it for any updates. Additionally, it is a nice approach to give your comments there so Atlassian can understand how this feature would have a positive impact on your business case.
Cheers!
Carlos
Hi Carlos, is the long-term vision then to build up the Next-Gen features to a point where it can support the workflows of classic projects?

Hello Mikko,
Just to be clear, I'm not answering for Atlassian, it is just my opinion, as I do not work in Atlassian.
I truly believe that the idea, in the future, will be to substitute classic projects for next-gen, however, this is a long way and a lot of time, because the next-gen was introduced recently and there is still a lot to improve and reach the point of being on the same level as classic projects.
Cheers!
Carlos
