Word Stemming Basic Understanding

Hallo everybody,

I have a problem with Word Stemming, Word Stemming does not seem to work for me like I expected. I did the following search: text~ "abcd“ and had some results. Than I searched for text~ "abcde", thougt the results oft he first search should be even in the result (that’s my understanding of word stemming search, but I struggled. The results did not include the results from the first search.

So is word stemming not even longer supported? Or does it only work with words on an JIRA index list? If the second: How does this work with other languages, f.e. french or german? Can they use word stemming, or is it an english-only feature?
