Workflow Validator Help: Prevent Transition to 'Completed' Based on Custom Field

Hi

I’m working on editing a Jira workflow and need help setting up some automation and validation rules. Here's the context and what we’ve tried so far:

Current Setup:

• Custom dropdown field: Business Benefit
  Options: Safety, Volume, Cost 1, Cost 2, Other
  (Multiple selections allowed)

• Text/value fields:

  • Safety
  • Volume
  • Cost1
  • Cost2
  • Other

What We’re Trying to Achieve:

1. Field Validation Rule
   If a value is selected in the Business Benefit dropdown (e.g., "Safety"), then the corresponding text/value field (e.g., "Safety") must be completed.
   This should apply to all selected options.

2. Workflow Transition Rule
   If Business Benefit is not completed and the corresponding text/value fields are not populated, the issue should not be allowed to transition to "Completed".
   Ideally, a pop-up message or error should appear explaining what’s missing.

What We’ve Tried:

• Edited the workflow and tried multiple conditions and validators.
• However, either:
  • The "Transition to Completed" option disappears entirely, or
  • We get multiple transition options to move to Completed, which is confusing.

Questions:

• What’s the best way to implement this logic? 
• How can we ensure the validation works dynamically for multiple selections?
