Hi Team,
I have created a new workflow Scheme and i need to upload to the a project which already got Scheme in it and that Scheme is been shared with multiple projects.
My question is, if i upload this Scheme will that affect the other scheme in that project?
Will it be added as a another workflow in that project?
Also will it change the workflow in other project.
Schemes are global configuration items that you select for projects. Selecting a different scheme for a project does not change any schemes, it just means the project now uses a different scheme to know how to behave.
Schemes are many:1 - a scheme can be used by many projects, but a project always uses 1 scheme per area (notification, workflow etc)
btw why cant i use the option, Add Workflow. When there are multiple a single Scheme share with multiple projects. I can only do Switch Scheme.
Add Workflow and Switch Scheme or both same? What is the difference between them @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-
Thanks Nic for you answers

Ok, let me rephrase this a bit:
Workflow schemes are the only way to tell a project what workflow to use for its issue types.

Thank Nic
So we cant just create a workflow and add to the project? Is that correct.
we can add only through workflow scheme ?

It will not affect the other scheme in that project.
It will be added as another workflow in that project.
It will not change the workflow in the other projects.
When in doubt you can refer to this documentation:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/configuring-workflow-schemes-776636598.html
Just to be sure are you talking about a workflow scheme (as above documentation)? or just a workflow?
Hope this helps!

You can just upload a workflow to a project right? Only workflow scheme can be uploaded right?

I'm not sure what you mean by upload but,
You can associate a workflow scheme to a project. In fact a project requires at least one workflow scheme and can only have one as Nick said below.
That workflow scheme could have different workflows based on issue types.
Add workflow and switch scheme are different.
I'm not sure about your question before this, can you clarify? You should be able to add a workflow or switch schemes from the project admin page

Hi patrick, if you screen the screenshot you can understand better . Sorry for not explaining you clearly.
1) I have project $$$
2) Client request is to add a new workflow to this project.
3) I have created a new workflow and then added to workflow scheme
4) Now my questions is, if i need to add the new Workflow to my project, can i do only by Switch Scheme. cuz the workflow scheme which is already in the project has been shared by multiple projects.
5) I dont have the option of Add workflow. But i get the option when i create a new project.
Another questions, if i do Switch Schemes will the new Workflow scheme will affect other projects>.
sorry if i am not clear.
