I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a new default field here, it shows on the backlog page, but not here. I've looked in screens, screen schemas but can't find anything related to picking fields

Dear  @David Simpson,

where doses it show up? Screen Shot? And you are sure that it has a value (not
none') otherwise it will not show up.

So long

Thomas

Thank you for the reply Thomas! It shows in this preview "pane"? I would call it when I click on a task in the backlog view. It doesn't have any data in this view.

@David Simpson, The view in the backlog is a little different.  There you have the option to specify what fields are show (with some limitations).  The issue view is a bit different.  As long as the field is on the view screen it will show up once there is data in it.  If the custom field is empty. jira will hide the field.

Now, if there is data in the field and it still doesn't show up, you will need to check you field configuration to make sure it's not hidden and the custom field itself to make sure it's not restricted specific issuetypes or projects.
