Is it possible to auto-assign different components based on different email addresses?

I'm playing with Mail Handler settings and have set it up to create an issue once an email is sent to a certain email address. However, I'd like to assign components based on the email. For example,

send 'email topic' to email.one@domain.com, create 'email topic' issue, and assign component "one"

send 'email topic' to email.two@domain.com, create 'email topic' issue, and assign component "two"

Is this possible?

Thanks

The default mail handlers don't allow you to configure this, unfortunately. There are a couple things you could do, I think:

  • Create a separate issue type for each issue created by a mail handler, and in a post-function, set the component accordingly. However, I think this kind of defeats the purpose of automatically setting a component and also introduces unnecessary issue types into your project(s). However, it's likely an option without having to get any Marketplace apps.
  • If you're okay with looking at Marketplace apps, Enterprise Mail Handler for Jira is super configurable and you can definitely set the component automatically. I use this myself and have 30+ rules configured for some specific uses cases.
