HI,

We've created a manual trigger in the automation to clone an issue to another project, althought we're not able to copy the following fields :

  • Time tracking
  • Comments
  • Issue history
  • Links to Confluence pages

any ideas or workaround?

cheers, Ulrich

Hi Ulrich,

I understand that you're using automation in order to clone an issue, but you have noticed that several elements are not present in the cloned issue.  This is actually a known limitation of using automation to perform a 'clone'.  This is documented in https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/automation-actions/

Technically automation is not using the clone function to copy this issue.  Instead it is creating a new issue and trying to copy what fields/values it can into that issue.

I am curious though as to why you might be trying to do this via a manual trigger.  Are there smart values in automation you are trying to use in this 'clone' issue in some way?  I'd like to know more about what it is in automation you are trying to use here to better understand your use case.

Since you mentioned this was an manual trigger, you might have better success just using the actual clone action.  In Jira Server this can be done from the More menu -> Clone.  When you click this you have the option to copy comments here.  However even this clone method doesn't sync issue history, time tracking, or confluence/web links.

I found at least one app in our Marketplace that might help you here.  Clone Plus of Jira appears to have much more options in terms of cloning issues than Jira does natively.  Of course there might be other solutions in Marketplace as well that could help here.

I hope this helps.

Andy
