can't see custom issue types in picklist

as a JIRA admin I created a custom issue type called 'investigations'.

When I create a new issue, from the picklist for Issue Type I can't see the new custom issue type value I created.

How do I get this to show up in the picklist when I'm trying to create a new issue record? Thanks.

Sounds like you have not added the new type to the "issue type scheme" for the project.
