I want to change the hierarchy of two newly, and not yet used issue-types. When I want to save my change I get the warning that the changes break current parent-link relations and that it is irreversible.
I guess that it only applies to the existing parent-links of the issue types I'm going to change?
Am I correct and save to change to hierarchy of my new, unused issue-types?
Hi @jeroen_wilmes,
Yes, that is the case. As an example, suppose you currently have 2 issue types called first floor and second floor, second floor being the parent of first floor in your hierarchy. You will have the Parent field filled on on issues of the first floor issue type and you can choose from issues of the second floor.
When you now change the hierarchy and make first floor the parent of the second floor, the selected parent issues of your first floor tickets will no longer be valid, as they have suddenly become children instead of parents. Having your children as parents may be an interesting experiment, but not for too long.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Walter, that helps. In my case I have not yet created the relations, and thus is the field-parent link not used for any of these issue type, and am i safe the change.
Children as parents of the parents, sometimes I think I live in that situation at home :)
