different locations to manage versions in jira?

Ben Arundel February 11, 2019

Hey

Just migrated to JIRA cloud.

I note that there are two places to manage versions:

1 - Under the Releases Tab.

2 - Under the backlog next to eipcs.

I have a number of versions under point 2 but none under location 1, do we know what the differences are?

Hello Ben,

Can you confirm if you are using JIRA Cloud or Server?

The only possible difference between both release views is when you have more than a single project linked to your board.

Each project has its own releases and it is not possible to add issues from different projects in a single common release.

In other words, the view number 2 will only display the releases related to the project where the board is located, however, the view number 1 will display the releases of all projects that are been configured in the board filter.

Let me know if this information answers your question.

Hey

Using JIRA Cloud, and that does actually make sense we have a board that has multiple projects so thanks for that.
