Hi Annapurna - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The Two Dimensional gadget only works with fields that have a defined set of values like a pick list dropdown or checklist or user picker list. It can't be used with open ended fields like Story Points.

Thank you sir, Can you elaborate with an example.

An example would be to show the number of issues per assignee by status.

Hi @Annapurna Banka

welcome to the community!

Just to expand on John's answer above: The story points field is a number, meaning that it can have literally any numeric value. The two-dimensional filter statistics gadget can't handle such fields; it only works with fields that have a defined set of possible values, like for example a dropdown (a.k.a. a select list in Jira). It's a limitation of the gadget that has been around pretty much forever, and I personally don't think it will be resolved in the foreseeable future.

What you could do is to create your own custom field, with defined story point values, like e.g. 1, 3, 5, and 7 (or whatever you think makes sense). The problem is that Jira won't recognise this field as the "story points" field, so you'll lose a lot of built-in features.

As an alternative, I can really only think of,

  • either exporting your data to e.g. Excel or Google Sheets and doing some kind of analysis there, or
  • looking for solutions in the Atlassian Marketplace.

I myself happen to work on a Marketplace app in which your use case should be relatively easy to solve; I provide more information below.

Best,

Hannes

... and just to expand on the last point above: If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can create a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

group-by-storypoints.gif

This may not look exactly like the two-dimensional filter statistics gadget, but should be able to show all the same data. Of course, you can model a virtually infinite number of other, more advanced reports with JXL, too.

Any questions just let me know!
